    Explore Official Language Status

My MA dissertation was about the role of social media in providing accessibility to resources for lesser-studied languages. I focused on Guarani, an indigenous language spoken in Paraguay, yet a rare case as it has official status. I also created a language documentary series called Language Stories, which explored different scenarios around the world.

I'm interested in learning more about official language status and how it impacts both the official languages and languages without official status in various contexts around the world.

This piques my curiosity because on the surface, it may seem necessary to have official languages, but perhaps there are other alternatives.

I'd love to explore case studies of other approaches.

For example, India has 22 'recognized' languages (and many more beyond that) but no 'national' language. Does the labeling affect language use? How does this differ across states?

Singapore has 4 official languages. Are they all equally used? Do residents feel they hold equal status?

It's fascinating to me as it's always different!

    Analyze Words And Buying Decisions

One area of linguistics I'm interested in is psycholinguistics combined with consumer psychology. I'm curious to learn more about how words affect buying decisions—especially in digital marketing and sales.

It's fascinating how even small word choices can change whether someone clicks, subscribes, or makes a purchase. For example, a slight shift from formal to conversational language can significantly improve engagement. I've noticed how certain words build trust, trigger emotions, or subtly persuade people toward making a decision.

Specifically, I'd like to explore the psychology behind why some words create feelings of urgency, comfort, or excitement, and how those feelings translate into real actions, like sign-ups or sales. Understanding these emotional connections would help me craft more persuasive, relatable content for brands.

I'm also curious about cultural differences—why some words or phrases that resonate strongly in one market might not work at all in another. Since I work internationally, knowing these nuances is important to creating successful, global marketing strategies.

Ultimately, words aren't just tools for selling—they shape perception, emotion, and decision-making. Understanding linguistics more deeply would allow me to better connect with audiences and help brands communicate in ways that truly resonate.

    Decode Nonverbal Communication

One area of linguistics that fascinates me is learning more about nonverbal communication, specifically gestures and body language. I'm intrigued by how different cultures interpret nonverbal cues and how body language influences communication. It amazes me how a simple gesture could carry entirely different meanings across cultures-or even within the same language.

In our increasingly interconnected world, mastering nonverbal cues is more than just a skill. This knowledge has transformed me into a more perceptive communicator and a culturally attuned individual. Additionally, I've learned how to harness body language effectively in public speaking and business interactions, enhancing my ability to convey messages clearly and confidently.

There is always more to discover in the subtle nuances of nonverbal communication that can impact interactions with people from diverse backgrounds.
